Amy and the Orphans – Jamie Brewer, Actor

(gentle guitar strumming) – I’ve been part of Amy and the Orphans ever since the beginning. It’s a take on what happens to children when their parents pass. It’s also a journey of self-discovery which I love. (gentle guitar strumming) When I first met Lindsey
it was when I was here for the New York Fashion Week. By luck of the draw she found me, and we’ve been really close ever since. With Lindsey it’s, an amazing bond between
us, that honest love. There’s an air about her that
I can talk about anything. (gentle guitar strumming) I started my career with
American Horror Story. And being in my very first
off-Broadway stage play, it’s incredible. Theater has an audience in front of you, whereas the industry is the
TV screen and movie screen. It’s a really unique feeling, actually. I have learned so much. (gentle guitar strumming) The backstory to this play
is Lindsey’s aunt, Amy, also has Down syndrome. There’s several things about her aunt that I’ve learned from the years. I’ve brought into the play some
of the quirks that Amy has, high-five, down low, too slow, loser, Amy had a knack of doing this
in her hair, quite a lot. She loves film, “Hasta la vista, baby.” “E.T. phone home,” is also involved. I love the realism, the reality of what Down
syndrome is within this play. Amy is like a glue to that family. (gentle guitar strumming)
