– Elkin, Elkin is a wonderful
small town, rich in history. We’ve got some local trails, the Mountains-to-Sea
comes through here. It’s just a beautiful
area altogether, nestled at the base of
the Blue Ridge Mountains. – Elkin is an ever growing,
fun, family community. – [Narrator] Elkin has
grown by leaps and bounds over the past decade. Nowhere is this more
evident than downtown. A shining example
of this resurgence, is a building
called The Liberty. – Originally it was a
tobacco warehouse, in 1917. And, was that for
maybe 10, 15 years. And, then it turned into
cash and carry wholesale. – [Narrator] Today,
Angry Troll Brewing, a homegrown restaurant, brewery, and tap room,
occupies that space. – We have an amazing
opportunity to have the brewery downstairs,
and be able to make all of our beers down here,
and have a really fun, and quaint, and enjoyable
tap rooms based down here. And then, we have the pub
and restaurant upstairs. Which allows people to
come and have meals, and dinner, and congregate. And, the restaurant
really makes our brewery much more of a destination. – [Cicely] Wood fired pizza
is, of course, the favorite. And, it’s awesome, all
the different varieties. The Philly cheese steak
is one of my favorite. And, of course, nachos
are a regular thing to order before your food comes. – [Narrator] In the taproom
you’ll find six taps that keep their
crafted beers flowing. – Our brewer, Louis, is
continually tweaking it so that it meets the
expectations of our clients. Testing certain flavors
that others may find odd. But, once you taste
’em, they go together. – We do use as much local
ingredients as possible in some of our specialty beers. Like, we use local
grown strawberries, local grown blueberries,
local honey. And, any other,
right now I’m getting locally grown hibiscus flowers
for our Hibiscus Wheat. – I’m actually gonna try
the Angry Troll Milk Stout. It’s kind of a heavier
beer, so if you’re something that’s more Guinnessy
like, this is gonna be that kind of flavor for you. I definitely taste a hint
of coffee in their stout. – But, they always have
some of the standard ones they keep making, so. It’s a good glass of beer. – [Narrator] If good food,
and quality crafted beer aren’t enough, Angry Troll is
always planning something fun. – We’ve had live
music, we do trivia, we have yoga, such as tonight. We have a thing called
Poses and Pints. – It’s a great way to wind
down at the end of the week. We start yoga at 6:00, and
then the rest of the evening you can have a beer, you can
hang out at the restaurant. – Elkin has really come
a long way in the past, I would say, decade, with
having more opportunities, options like this. – Revitalizing previously
industrial areas like this, gives a new identity, a new life to towns like this. And, this is a
vibrant, growing town, with lots of different
things to do, lots of different interests. And, it keeps places
like this alive, and thriving, and growing. – Angry Troll brewing is at
222 East Main Street, in Elkin. And, the restaurant is open
Thursday through Monday, and the tap room is open
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. For more information you can
