Beer o’clock review time with Rhyme and Reason Brewery talking about sea kayaking jackets

Good day guys. It’s Rocky and Danny here from Further Faster. It’s Friday and it’s beer o’clock review time and we picked ourselves a bit tonight’s beer is from Rhyme and Reason Brewery in Wanaka and we’re
gonna joyride that Pale Ale going along Wanaka beer. South Island special. Excellent. Got a few of those now
actually. Picked this up at the beer library down the road always a good place to get
decent beer and yeah it’s a nice easy beer. It’s not too heavy 5.2 of Pale Ale
it’s been going down pretty well actually. What do you think bro? I like it
yeah but I like beer. He does like beer yes and he also likes sea kayaking gears. That’s a good segue to we’re talking here about sea kayaking
jackets so over to our resident expert Mr. D. Right. I chose three hooded
jackets tonight we’ve got one female specific and then two general jackets. We’ve got three different brands as well. We’ve got NRS. We’ve got Level Six and we’ve got Peak UK on the table all sorts of stuff going on if
we start with NRS on this side we’ll just talk through a few of the different
features on the jacket. Can I ask a question before we get going? What makes a sea kayaking jacket different from say a normal splash or ??? dry. Well
it’s just a bit like you’re not gonna use it for whitewater you actually for
sea kayaking we’re saying sea kayaking yes it’s great for sitting on top you
know like fishing kayaks if you’re recreation kayaks you could even use it
for like multi support and that sort of stuff but it fits into that peat that
that kind of category where you’re gonna go out and spend some time at the ocean
spend some time getting splash spend some time in the rain and that’s gonna
work well for you so excellent not just sea kayaking. Somebody might ask the question so I did. So on all of them we’ve got some pockets
multiple pockets we’ve got 2 shoulder pockets I mean arm pockets on that one
got one there on the Level Six and we’ve got one arm pocket on the Peak UK and then also 2 check pockets as well. Cool thing about these is their designs of when
you’ve got your PFD on you can reach into those pockets you can still access
them when you’ve got your lifejacket on Alright back over here these two jackets both have a double tube so that
means you can put your spray deck on and then that goes in between big wide
neoprene closure on this one you put a smaller neoprene closure on that one and
then the Peak UK. They make actually two versions of this jacket they do one with
the double tube and one with a single that’s the single but they put a nice
super big wide neoprene closure on that one and then reflective detail again if
you’re at the ocean being seen is a good thing so at nighttime so you’ve got
reflective detail on all three jackets across here. Loads on the Peak. You can see the whole arm. That’s one of the big differences that’s got a full dry wrist inside as
opposed to the Level Six yep okay typical neoprene closure yeah on the level six
and with you ladies one there just a ??? borderline like semi dry
so that’s pretty tight fit on there and then across the next all of them are typical
neoprene closure yeah for sure okay so you can open those
all up and invent nicely tuck away the hoods makes a grungy of fabric as well
yeah and there’s the last thing to talk about visit fabric I’m looking at the
two so we’ve got 2.5s on these and this is you’ve got a three
layer of fabric so these are a bit lighter material. If you look inside there you’ve got that mesh finish so it’s a three layer
of fabric. So that’s a really solid jacket so there you go
three good choices for hooded sea kayak jackets. Great for fishing kayaks recreational use yeah check them out we’ve got them all online at Further Faster. Have a great weekend. We’ll see you next week. Cheers guys!
