Beer oclock review with Montane new alpine clothing and Ballast Point Brewing Company

Hey guys it’s Rocky and Danny from Further Faster. It’s beer o’clock review part deux. The first one didn’t work
apparently the sound was off so technical difficulties it happens to the best of people, happens to professionals, happens to the amateurs. Anyhow beer o’clock review. So starting off with the beer. What we got bro? We’ve got Ballast Point brewery from San Diego California. It’s a Sculpin IPA. Sculpin Unfiltered Sculpin IPA. What does that mean? I think it’s got to do something to do with that fish on the back. I’m suspecting. i’m taking the facts come play sounds like a good novel word actually. Sculpin it down. For an IPA it’s quite light but here’s the thing it’s 7%
so it’s not that light actually. Would not have guessed it was 7%. No it
doesn’t taste like a 7% beer at all. Where’d you get it from? A corporate supermarket
chain. We did supermarket shopping today bought some sponges for the kitchen that sort of thing. Then we picked that up, it’s different. It’s good. Anyhow onto the gear. It’s that time of year when we get gear in from lots of suppliers and i’ve
got some new gear from Montane. I have got the new Hydrogen Direct Jacket on. This is a super lightweight. it’s a pile pertex system
which should have been out for probably 20 30 years. So this is the pile. This is POLARTEC Alpha so it’s a very very fancy pile
it’s also directional so what it basically means is from your base layer
moisture your wicks away superfast through into the Pertex quantum outer
which is mega breathable completely windproof so in a lot of instances this
in a base layer would do you good all day long to be quite honest and three
pockets what’s it designed for alpine climbing, tramping, anything way it’s a
bit fast and light if you want to wear a helmet the helmets gonna go over the
hood on this occasion with this one and super lightweight. POLARTEC Alpha is a great great fabric great feeling very looking. It makes for
super lightweight a bit of kit which is like warm actually and does work
incredibly well and its first I’ve seen actually there’s a more of a traditional
polypertex garment so I’m pretty stoked with that. Anyhow under that the piece de resistance. This is the new ??? So this is the Alpine
Mission Pants. So what we have got here is granite stretch with thermal
lining and you got a ??? as well. What’s going on down here? okay so well first off one of the questions we get asked loads in the shop is, why are you wearing two different boots? Will this pant go over my boots mountaineering boots or my cheering boot. For the Alpine Mission Pant the answer is clearly. My ??? vertical ???
and that’s my Fischer ??? so yeah and that comes up and down so
you could actually if you had a bigger boot so it expands out quite a lot. So what’s it designed for alpine climbing, ski mountaineering, anything like that. Great pant you’ve got lots of pockets. What’s with the braces? Keep your pants up. Simple question. Non-technical. Turn around. Obviously you’ve got a crampon protection there as well we showed the
??? and it’s quite a warm pant. You’re not gonna need much ??? if you’re
quite honest yeah you do have venting like you’d expect down the sides as well
yeah brand new really really good pant it should go well. Anyhow on to Dan
here with the most sleek look I’ve got to say. I’m going for the Italian look or the millennial look. I’ve got my skinny pants. Jahna’s spitting out her beer over the corner there since I said that. Basically they’re like a fleece-lined
pant. Where’s the fleece part? It’s backed over here. It’s backed. So these are the mode mission pants, two pockets, you can vent through those but otherwise a simple stretch fabric up on those. Tell us what’s
happening down here so what’s happening down here simple as you got a zip you’re not gonna go obviously you’re not
gonna go over a boot. Let’s have a look at the inside. Fleecey – that’s nice. Basically it’s the same fabric I’m wearing here but Dan’s got a much more tighter fit on and some people prefer that it’s no
??? it’s next to the skin nobody’s gonna get caught super fast and light. something. You’re not gonna catch crampons on that definitely Unless you really mess it up. Anyways then on to the fleece we’ve got Alpine Raid Hoodie on so it’s
called Pontetorto fleece which is Italian so it kind of works out. You look a little Italian we should get Daniellie in here. Daniellie if you’re watching give us a review of Dan and his fashion. So you’ve got a nice stretch hoodie. You can get nice and tucked in. Again it’s gonna go under the helmet instead of over it. You should expect a one chest pocket, a little bit of windproof on there. Is it unisex or is there other options
out there? We’ve got some lady stuff coming next week we’ll review when they’re around. It’s men’s night tonight, hands with the braces. You’ll
notice it’s also you’ll see the word Alta on that and you see the word Alta
on my pants here. So this is a new range in Montane which is
aimed at super fast and light ???. I’m not exactly the model for that to be quite honest but there you go the dumb stuff fits me. Alright guys have a great long weekend
hope everybody gets out to play in the hills and we’ll speak to you next week.
