It’s in Ottawa, it’s raining and The snow is disappearing, but it says that it’s going to change to snow and we’re gonna have tons of snow to play in and have fun way so Anyhow, we’re gonna go inside take a peek on the fish and Introduce you to chef in a table and that’s just me in the kitchen and It’s a free cooking school and I’m going to go through a bunch of stuff that I’ve learned and If you guys have any questions or anything like that These comment Can send me messages? and if there’s any dishes that you want me to make I definitely look into doing that and We’ll go from there. Okay, so it’s nice and warm inside Everyone’s doing outstanding and my The green turn is Incredible So I have someone coughing my words which is kind of funny But the red parrots are are always doing good so let’s go check the babies You know on the babies and I can see One there and the other ones there two Tigers right beside him Tigers awesome Yeah, he’s gonna get big and a pleco he’s he’s kind of a chicken And then Goldie’s in there too somewhere She’s probably Right hiding somewhere know this tropical tank I’ve been having issues with the heater because the heater is too large for the tank, but Finally got real thermometer that’ll work instead of I can’t see it. There it is These little pieces of crap do not work so get yourself a decent thermometer the stuck on one’s work sometimes and sometimes don’t so I prefer a thermometer like this so We’re gonna pass this off and we’re gonna go jump into the kitchen so We’ll see you the saw properly Properly sharpening a knife with a steel You want to hold the steel down firmly on your cutting board? Grab your knife when you hold a knife Chef’s knife. You want to pinch it with your two fingers at the top here? It may feel awkward and then have your next finger come down and then down and hold it and it gives you better Cutting and you’re not gonna miss and cut yourself So anyways the steel you want to go in a 45 degree angle To sharpen it up And you can go slow There’s no reason was going crazy side So 35 now the tall if your knife is sharp easy About bad Bad but Okay. Well, these are eventually are going to need to be sharpened Right now, it’s really not that bad But cutting a pepper what I like to do is Just cut it into four Knock your seeds I push them aside. Have a place for your garbage So and then you’re gonna want to take out the rim And there you go then this one you take any thought Nip off this in Top out the seeds or you can go ahead and use your hands and rip it out. But this way You get all the red ball And it looks nice This one turn around But I can show you other ways to Peel peppers too. We’ve learned over the years But that’s like the most common one and then if you’re just making strips Just slice down And keep holding your knife like this You’ll finally get used to it I know it feels awkward No, you want to hold it like this but the control of this Gives it much better Much better cuts too like you can go really thin Or you thick depending on what you’re using it for right? So that’s easy Cutting a pepper not hurt at all now onions I’m gonna push our edge to the side Garbage is on this side goods are on this side onions. You want to nip off the end right through? bridge Thanks one Snip on through garbage Now depending on what you’re doing if you’re making let’s say onion rings you’re gonna want to cut them thick and You’re gonna want to take just take off the skin and then cut them into rounds but if you’re gonna be dicing them into different sizes then you always straight down Then we take the paper off Just like wrapping paper Now these are cooking onions, they’re gonna be a little more potent so not great for a salad some people like the lawn salads, but Not not the best onion for salads Prefer the red or purple so when okay We’ll do one where We’re going to dice it and then one we’re just gonna slice it. So slicing it. You can do two different ways You could go this way or most people end up going this way Now for dicing an onion you want to look at The onion itself and how it grows and Where it goes in is the perk that you want to keep so you want to flip the onion over Hold your fingers like a claw like you’re a bear If you do that, you’re never going to cut yourself. So always hold your fingers like you’re like a bear then Just make slices. So if you want to have a big dice Then you’re gonna want to go big if you want to go small Then you are really really really small. Then you want to go smaller? but we’re gonna make a Sort of medium dice so we cut but we’re cutting almost all the way through the onion and then almost through then like a bear we Grab our onion again now, we’re gonna slice Right through completely You keep your fingers like bear claw Now this last little bit is not going to be completely dice. So you’ve got to go over that part So there we go. There’s a dice for onion Say this piece. I’ll just fix it. So No things 100% perfect, but there’s a nice dice. There’s your slice of onion I’m gonna do one more Just to show you guys The other way with that we can slice it Well, there’s so many ways to do so many different things in cooking And what people do People tend to learn and find tricks to go faster.
