Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire – Peter Hollens – A Cappella

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire Jack Frost nipping at your nose Yuletide carols being sung by a choir And folks dressed up like Eskimos Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe Help to make the season bright Tiny little tots with their eyes all aglow Will find it hard to sleep tonight They know that Santa’s on his way He’s loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh And every mother’s child is gonna spy To see if reindeer really know how to fly So I’m offering this simple phrase To kids from one to ninety-two Although it’s been said many times, many ways Merry Christmas to you Merry Christmas to you Subtitles by the Amara.org community

  1. Although most of us realize that a full Christmas album would take a lot of work for each individual song, it simply needs to happen! 🙂

Besides, you're two songs on your way already! Here is a small list of my personal favs I'd like to see, because I love to speak for everyone. (and ducking thrown objects when others disagree keeps me in shape)

    O Holy Night
    O Come, Emmanuel
    Good King Wenceslas
    We Three Kings
    Mary Did You Know
    God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

  2. Even when I'm listening to this track on May, it brings me into holiday mood.. *sways to the song*

    EH?! WAIT! What are you doing to me, Peter?!! *w(OAO;w;; ) suddenly procrastinating from work >.<;;

  3. Yes, I agree – please do a Christmas album sometime Peter. It would make so many family Christmases very special! 🙂

  4. You have a fantastic voice for SO many Christmas songs!!!!! Will you please do Amy Grant's "Breath Of Heaven"? Also, I think you could do a great job of Jars Of Clay's version of The Little Drummer Boy. Please, please, please REALLY consider these two for Christmas!!!!! Of course along with a full Christmas album that we could buy. 🙂

  5. Man Mr. Hollens your voice is amazing i sing baritone in Barbershop Harmony But you are very amazing Great song!

  6. Listening to this just took me back to my childhood with me sitting on the couch next to the fireplace on Christmas Eve waiting on family to get in from Florida and we would open presents and just have a great day. Nothing is as good as it was at times. Thank You

  7. Absolutely gorgeous, Peter! You carried that song to a new place and really let's us hear you sing the lead and keeping the scene by the fire and video Window put of this one was perfect! Amazing job and I'm getting the warm fuzzies, so it's perfect to my critical ears ( born with perfect pitch…sometimes great but can be very hard to not listen for everything to sound perfect!) You did that song proud and made it your own! 🙂

  8. I know it would be hard but if you could manage Christmas Shoes I just might explode with glee. Then I can think back to the dance I did to the song as a kid.

  19. Perfectly done – makes you feel all warm and cozy. You can almost taste the hot chocolate, and the peppermint schnapps in the hot chocolate. . . .

  20. What a wonderful way to get into the spirit of Christmas with the perfect immortal beautiful voice of the King of Acappella Peter Hollens.  Wishing Peter and all his great family and fans a very Merry Christmas.  Thanks Peter! 🙂

  21. Peter, God bless you &  yours & may He fill you with His Spirit of healing love, joy  & peace.  Your beautiful voice & spirit are such a blessing in your Christmas carols.

  22. Can you do a version of 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen'? It's always been my favorite Christmas song. 🙂

  23. Just wonderful. Have you done "The Carol of the Bells"? If not – get some of your friends to help, do it in a church with alcoves and have different colored lights light them up when they sing. Maybe start them out as statues of angels? You come down the main aisle and start the singing. Wind up with the choir from that church? Just a thought. 🙂

  24. Peter, I absolutely love this song. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside and is easily one of my favorite childhood Christmas songs. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
