Crittenden Middle School Stratford Culinary Tour

Crittenden Middle School Stratford Culinary Tour

Here’s some food for thought: the Culinary
Arts is the fastest growing industry in America today. So, with highly skilled professionals constantly
in demand, students from Crittenden Middle school explored what it takes to become the
next top chef. Students with Men in the Making, a mentoring
group sponsored by Professional School Counselor Tarri Jones, visited Stratford University
in Newport News to receive a tour of their School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts. An instructor spoke with the young men about
the many perks of working in the culinary industry, while one of Stratford’s students
demonstrated the skill and technique needed to make the perfect mixed berry crepe. The students were invited to try their hand
by assembling their own crepe before sampling the tasty treat. By exploring a range of careers and visiting
nearby postsecondary options, our students can dream big about the many possibilities
available to them after high school.
