Bulb made the decision to make all of it gas
totally carbon neutral. The way we do that is by partnering with climate care and they
connect us to a whole host of projects around the world which are carbon reduction schemes.
One of those is the Burn cookstove, so we’re learning how the stoves work to understand
this project that we’re supporting. The Burn project is a project in Kenya which
is reducing emissions from people cooking by creating a market for more efficient cookstoves.
The stove in manufactured in a factory north of Nairobi, the factory is completely solar
powered and more than 50% of the workforce are women. The project also creates a whole
host of benefits through the stove which reduce peoples exposure to smoke it reduces carbon
emissions and it saves people money on fuel. A Burn stove will save about 2 tonnes of carbon
emissions a year which is the equivalent of flying from London to New York and back again.
