Greek roast Chicken with Lemon & Potatoes | Akis Petretzikis Kitchen

Hello lovely YouTubers! Welcome back to my kitchen! Today, it’s a lemon chicken day! I will show you the best way to make the chicken so juicy and so lemony at the same time, you don’t have to buy more stuff from the supermarket… you already have everything you need inside your house and you will see how easy it is to make the most tender and juicy chicken you ever tried! So, let’s start by counting our materials… One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight! With eight items you will make the most tender and juicy chicken you ever tried! First, you have to preheat your oven to 200 C set to fan. Perfect! Chop six medium-sized potatoes into wedges. Now, we have to give a nice color to the potatoes because it’s very difficult to give this color inside the oven. We pre-color the potatoes to be ready for the oven! Place a non-stick pan over high heat. Add four tablespoons of olive oil. Let it get very hot and add your potatoes. Season with pepper, salt, a few sprigs of fresh thyme, mix, and sauté until golden brown. Transfer to an ovenproof baking dish. In a food processor, add three to four cloves of garlic, one chicken cube, one teaspoon dry oregano, the rind from two lemons, the juice from two lemons, 50 grams of extra virgin Greek olive oil, 200 ml water, a generous amount of thyme, 40 grams of honey, and 60 grams of mild mustard. Beat until the garlic has completely broken down. The aromatic bath is ready for Mr. chicken, it’s time to let him soak inside this beautiful marinade… Oh my God, it’s so tasty, and so aromatic, and so lemony! And I already know that my chicken will be the best chicken you ever tried! It is better to wear disposable gloves when working with chicken. Transfer the chicken to a large bowl. I have a link at the end of the video for a quick tip on how to cut up a chicken. Pour the marinade over the chicken. Massage the marinade into the chicken. Now, you can cook it immediately or refrigerate and let it marinate for up to one day. The longer you let the marinade work on the chicken, the better it will taste. Place the chicken over the potatoes in the baking dish… and pour the marinade over both the chicken and potatoes. Cover with aluminum foil. And now, it’s time to cook Mr. chicken! You will cook him for 45 minutes, then you will take off the aluminum foil and carry on cooking for 30-45 minutes until it’s golden brown, and crispy, and sexy. Ok? Forty five minutes with the aluminum foil and then, thirty more minutes, maybe forty five. It depends on the chicken and the dish. While the chicken is cooking, baste with the marinade as often as possible. Ooh! Mr. chicken had a makeover! Look how beautiful that looks! It has been roasted to perfection! The meat is golden, the skin is crunchy, the potatoes are golden on the outside and soft. I think that I’m in love with this recipe! This is an autopilot chicken, you just put everything inside, into the oven, one and a half hours, and then you take off this amazing dish and you can see all this tastiness, deliciousness… I said everything! So, it’s time to serve! Potatoes, chicken, and I will serve my lovely chicken with some Greek strained yogurt. I have become very good friends with Mr. chicken but I’m so sorry Mr. chicken, you have to meet Mr. stomach, I have to try some of my creation. Oh my God, it’s so amazing! It literally melts in your mouth, it’s so tender but has so many flavors inside! And you know guys, it’s very tough to make a tender chicken but juicy at the same time. It is an amazing recipe, please try to do it! Please subscribe to my channel, make comments underneath the video! Share the video with your friends! And see you next time, bye bye! Yia sas!

  13. Love this recipe! Made it yesterday (8/8/18) for my lovely wife. She declared it "guest worthy." I don't know what you mean by mild mustard, so I put in 1/4 cup of French's yellow mustard and it was wonderful! French's is the kind of mustard that we Americans put on our hotdogs at baseball games. But next time, I think next time I am going to mix in some French style dijon mustard with my French's yellow mustard. Ironic, eh? Anyway, thanks Akis! You are the man!

  14. I'm sorry … but this recipe is sucked … the proportions are not good … the sauce is definitely too sour … oh, it's got a balance at all … the potatoes should be made separately … for the chicken because their time baking together not is optimal …. I did exactly as in the movie and it was not to eat …. sorry but this food only good looks .. it can be eaten ..
