Hi, and here’s another embarrassed to ask cooking question. I was asked “How do you cook asparagus”? I’m going to show you 3 ways to do it which is Steaming, Grilling, or cooking it in the Microwave. To start with (and it doesn’t matter how you’re cooking your asparagus) you’ll first need to wash it under water and snap off the hard parts of the stem at the root end. Do this by holding the asparagus between your forefinger and thumb then snapping the end off. Now firstly I’m going to show you how to cook asparagus in a griddle pan. You first need to put it on a hob, put some oil in and heat it up. Then throw in your asparagus. Simply cook in the pan for between 3-5 minutes making sure you keep moving them so they
don’t get stuck and then they’re ready to serve when they’ve just started to crisp up. Another way to cook asparagus which is a lot healthier as well is to steam it. First you need to put some water on the boil in a pan and then put your prepared asparagus into a
steaming pan. Stick the asparagus over the heat, put the lid on and steam for
no longer than four minutes. Then it’s ready to serve. My final way to cook asparagus is in the microwave. Get yourself a dish and put the prepared asparagus into it with 1 tablespoon of water. Cover with some kitchen towel and put in the microwave. Cook the asparagus for between one and no
longer than two minutes making sure you keep checking between so
it doesn’t overcook. Then remove from the microwave – being careful of the steam that’s going to be coming off of it and then serve. And there you have it – three
really simple ways to cook asparagus.
