Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria & Brewery – Hyde Park, Chicago, IL

My name is Grant Forshee – I’ve been with
Jolly Pumpkin for three years now. I’m the general manager of this store, but
I started with the company as a bartender. My name is Tiffani Everett – I’m a manager
here at Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria & Brewery. If somebody is here at Jolly Pumpkin for the first time, I would probably start out with the Bam beer – it’s our signature farmhouse ale. It’s only a little bit tart – see, all Jolly
Pumpkin beers are oak-aged sour beers. And having that Bam beer that only has a little bit of tartness and little bit of acidity can kind of ease you into the world of oak-aged sour beers. And the food, too… The food is definitely focused on being kind of eclectic so we’re trying to bring sort of exciting ingredients, exciting combinations of pizza, salads, and sandwiches. When I first started here I think the first
thing I loved was probably the red chicken nachos and then the truffle mushroom pizza – it’s very popular. I’ve been living in Hyde Park for a while
now and I’ve always felt that Hyde Park – even though we’re part of the city – we’re still
far enough from the city to get away from the noise but also close enough that it’s
a very quick commute back to the Loop as well as just the community here – I feel like Hyde
Park gives you that small town feeling, but you’re still part of like, the bigger city
as well. My favorite thing about Hyde Park is sort
of the energy of an up and coming neighborhood – I also look around and I see a lot of diversity in the neighborhood and that makes me feel a lot like home, too, because I was a Detroit resident before I moved out here. When I’m not working I like to go shopping in Hyde Park, so you’ll probably catch me a lot at Akira, or even like The Silver Room
– I love their jewelry over there. When you come to the Jolly Pumpkin here in Hyde Park it’s good to know that we have a lot of different and diverse products – so
we’ve got our oak-aged sour beer through the Jolly Pumpkin brand, we’ve got another brand of beer – North Peak – we have a distillery that’s located up in Traverse City, Michigan, that produces a line of spirits that we sell here. We also have a winery in Northern Michigan that provides our wine for us. So we’re really looking to make Jolly Pumpkin kind of destination
for something to do on a night out…
