MadTree Brewing Testimonial – BLÜCHER HygienicPro® Drains

(lighthearted music) – Beer gives you an opportunity
to discuss many things. It’s kind of a catalyst for
conversation, if you will. It drives community. What we always say here
is beer builds community, community builds beer. Just having that opportunity every day is very unique and I’m very happy to be in the industry. Any time there’s a question that comes up with respect to quality or
community or the employees, we take it and we say, “Does this make us the
most respected craft brew “in the region?” – The change of scope from this place to the new facility scares me. (laughs) We’re going from
a 15 barrel brewhouse so it has the capacity of
doing 20,000 barrels a year, to 126 barrel brewhouse that can do up to 180,000 barrels a year. Every brewer knows its
water usage is a big thing and everybody’s trying to cut
corners as much as they can with the amount of water they use. A lot of things that are
going in the new facility is just lessons learned from here, you know, how we want to
do things differently, the drains being a big part of that. We knew we had issues
with our current drains and we wanted the best
option for our new facility, which is the same thing we did with all of our equipment choices. We went with the best. I would recommend BLÜCHER drains solely based on water usage. They used one gallon of water to clear out a drain in 17 seconds as opposed to the drains
that we currently have that uses about 25 gallons to
clear it out in four minutes. It is a big reason why to use them. (lighthearted music) – I was brewing on a brew pad the first six months
of my employment here, and from learning the
brewing process that way I got to experience actual
the drains in the system that we currently have and
all the troubles you get. You start to experience
cracks in the concrete around the edges of the drains. Dumping any kind of trub or hops or anything out of the fermentor takes a long take to
wash it down the drain. You’re going to get solid buildup. Things just hang out in the drains that you can’t really wash out very easily and you don’t have the time that you need to deal with having the waste and spray it all down and stuff. There’s other things going on. I rely heavily on each
equipment supplier’s customer service. We selected all the equipment based on their customer service and what they’re capable of doing and the support they had. As a craft brewer it’s very
important to have that support. A lot of things that we’re doing is new. Our new brewery is completely innovative. A lot of technologies we’re doing, we’re doing for the first time, so having that support
is very important to us. – As we see it, we try to be
as transparent as possible with our processes. As everyone else continues
to improve quality, as we continue to improve quality, I believe the entire industry as a whole will grow together, so it’s in our best interest as MadTree to help everybody else out there too. (upbeat music)
