Our Brewery Throwdowns – Barrel of Monks Brewing

So tonight ias our Throwdown beer dinner
it’s basically a food and beer pairing but kinda with a twist we have a guest
chef that will come in and we’ll have a guest brewery. The chef prepares a blind
four-course menu no one knows the food not us not the other brewery and not the guests, and then we have the guest brewery bring in four beers. Barrel of Monks brings four beers and then we pair those beers on the fly per course. And then the
guests of the dinner get a chance to vote on who paired that beer best with the food. You can’t really prepare for it so we try to select four beers every
time that pair with a wide range of food and that’s really important for us.
And we also try to feature new beers as often as possible because so often a lot
of people are coming back time in and time out andwe want to make sure they’re
always getting different beers and different things to pair with and not
the same old thing every time. We’ve also tried to spice things up with different
kind of concepts. We’re doing a Barrel of Monks vs. Barrel of Monks this year
and we do other kinds of things to kind of jazz it up and from time to time. The
anticipation is always in what the chef’s gonna bring to the table so we’ve
had chefs not do a dessert altogether and do an uni butter pasta. So there’s
really gonna be a lot of surprise I hope and that’s a lot of fun and it’s
really fun to kind of anticipate that. There’s a joking sense of rivalry but at
end the day we only invite breweries that we have a good relationship with,
that we respect them, they make great beer, we think we make great beer so it’s
more of a tongue-in-cheek kind of thing. We play it up a little bit for the crowd
but overall we really love and respect each other. The most important thing for
us is to show people that beer is just as good as a pairing mechanism our
pairing item with food. Because every course we have to decide which one of
our beers we’re going to use that we can’t then use again. So that’s really
the most fun and the most exciting part about it. And then just being together
with our fans and people that really love food and beer and be together with
the guests breweries and things of that nature. It’s always a really jovial
atmosphere and we really enjoy it. I would highly recommend that you follow us on Facebook
on Instagram follow our social media because when these tickets do go on sale
they go really quickly and we get a lot of people that go to pretty much every
one of these. And with only 50 55 tickets to go and they
go really really fast.
