(calming music) – It’s something about the
process that’s just so fun. Being able to turn just water and grains and go through the entire process and basically you’re nurturing this beer all the way until it’s ready. And being able to turn your own creation, just throwing in whatever
you think sounds good, like different grains, different fruits, and then fermenting it and then getting all the
way up into the glass. And then when it actually tastes good, it’s amazing. It’s really cool. (cheering) To tell you my story, it makes sense to go back eight years ago. I was really struggling with high school and I was sitting near
the bottom of my class and I was always brushed off
as the kid who never tried. And didn’t really know what
I was gonna do with my life. Had nothing really going for me. I found myself living in my Jeep and could barely afford to feed myself. That’s kind of what led
me to join the military. And then once I joined the military, they kind of taught really how to live. Fast forward a few years. With my military contract
coming to a close, I again had a decision to make as to what my future would hold and I wanted to turn my
attention to education. But it was at this time
that I was introduced to what I believe is the
greatest invention on Earth, next to Facebook and Twinkies, and this wonderful
invention is called beer. Thought it’d be kind of interesting to learn how to make beer so I watched a couple YouTube
videos on how to do it And thought wow this seems cool So I ended up buying an absolute ton of home brewing equipment and just kind put blood,
sweat, and tears into it from that point on. Got really interested
in it ’cause it’s fun. It’s like okay, if this is
fun, let’s do this for a career if we possibly can. – He earned the Best Business
Intern Award at an internship, the Dean’s Academic Achievement Award from the College of Business,
and now the Provost Award. – Two months before we
even signed our lease here, we almost had to call it quits just ’cause the banks were
just asking for so much. I can’t tell you how many times
I got rejected for a loan, how many locations we lost, or how many investors laughed in my face when they learned that I was
just a poor college student, a millennial, and had little
to no start-up experience. Yeah, there were a lot of times we got to okay, this might not happen but I dunno, they kind of teach you in the military to just put up and shut up, just kind of push forward. People who can’t do something themselves will always want to tell
you that you can’t do it but if you want something, go get it. Period. We’re very family-friendly
and very veteran-friendly since both me and my business partners served in the Air Force. Thursdays, Fridays,
Saturdays, and Sundays, it’s hard to find a seat. It’s cool people actually
drinking your beer that you put a lot of
work into over the years. And they’re smiling and
they’re saying it’s good. They’re cheers-ing each other. It’s pretty cool.
