Rice Cake and Bok Choy Stir Fry, why is rice cake good luck for Lunar New Year 炒年糕


hi everyone today we are going to make
very simple iand delightful stir-fried rice cake with bok choy I
made this for Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner and I also posted the picture on the
community some of you guys were interested now I’m sharing the simple
recipe with you rice cake in Chinese Nian Gao Nian means
year short for new year Gao is cake so it sounds the same as other word Gao for
high so this very lucky dish which means you’re going higher every year you’re
doing better let me show you the ingredients you can see the ingredients
also so simple I got one pack of rice cake slices actually I bought a bunch of
bags for the new year this is a brand from China if you cannot find slices
like this you can also buy from Korean markets they have those looking
like rolls so you can see they are dry and I have about a cup of chopped bok choy
I used the baby bok choy you can just use regular bok choy and the 3 cloves of
garlic minced we also need light soy sauce vegetable oil and salt and first
we are going to boil the rice cake I pre boiled a pot of water before you boil the rice
cake make sure you rinse it so in the package it (says) boil for 3 to 5 minutes
I normally do for 4 minutes after 4 minutes we’re ready to strain
the rice cake now we’re ready to stir fry add some oil make sure to coat the pan my wok add minced garlic bok choy cook about a minute about minute add a
little bit salt now we add the rice cake and a little bit sauce sauce to be your taste
cause the rice cake doesn’t have much tast let’s have a quick taste hmm perfect our
rice cake is ready isn’t it simple to make this? not only this is a lucky dish
for new year (but) also you can have for quick lunch and dinner and let me try
for you guys actually I’ve been making this every week mmm delicious
if you’re like me (who) like this chewy, elastic texture you’ll love this and the
bok choy so fresh, crunchy if you can find rice cake please try this dish
