Sliders Grilling Video for JEWEL-OSCO

Hi, I’m Annessa Chumbley
and welcome to my backyard. Sliders are
the ultimate party food and summer’s the perfect time
to serve them. I have a recipe
that you are going to love. It’s bacon and guacamole sliders
with grilled watermelon. I already have everything we
need from Jewel-Osco so let’s celebrate summer
and get grilling. ♪ As you can see,
I already formed our hamburger into slider sized patties. I took two pounds
of ground beef and it’s a good idea
not to use anything leaner than 80/20 because you want your hamburgers
to stay held together and moist on the grill. Then I worked in
some ingredients as a flavor boost
on the grill. I added some chopped scallions
for that onion flavor and then some minced garlic. Both of those I picked up
in the fresh cut section. When I’m making a meal
for a summer party I am totally fine
with someone else helping me out
with the prep. I also added a splash
of soy sauce and then a couple
of teaspoons of McCormick Hamburger
Seasoning. Mix that all in together,
but remember, you don’t want to
overwork your hamburger, it’ll make it tough
in the end, so just gently fold it together
with clean hands. Then, this is the biggest
and most important tip that I like to remember
for hamburgers. Sometimes, you know how
when you’re making sliders they can kind of raise up
in the middle and they end up looking
like hockey pucks? Well, this is gonna ensure
that doesn’t happen. Just make a little indent,
a slight indent, with your thumb
into each patty and that way it ensures
even cooking and a perfectly done
hamburger for your grill. Our grill is at
medium-high heat and these are ready
to go. I’ve been grilling our sliders
for about ten minutes, but the amount of time
you wanna grill your burgers depends on the kind
of doneness you like. I like mine
right about medium, so that’s gonna be about
five minutes per side. Here’s three tips for
the perfect slider. First, let it be. When you put your slider
on the grill leave it alone and don’t touch it. It’s gonna develop
a sear on the bottom and you’ll know it’s ready
to flip over after just
a couple of minutes when it doesn’t stick
anymore. Second is only flip once. This ensures that your burger
won’t be tough, it’ll still be tender. And then third,
don’t ever, ever, ever smush that slider. It’s awful tempting to
press down on the meat, but when you do that
you’re squeezing all of the natural juices
out, and we wanna
keep those in. Have you ever tried
grilled watermelon? If you haven’t promise me
that you are gonna throw it on the grill
this summer because it really takes
that watermelon that everyone loves
to the next level. The natural flavors
concentrate and caramelize and the watermelon gets juicy,
syrupy sweet. I even like to hit mine
with a little bit of chili lime seasoning
from McCormick right as they go
on the grill. And our dinner
is almost ready. I finish our sliders
by adding butter lettuce and then topping them
with crispy bacon and some spicy guacamole from
the fresh cut section. Finger foods are great
for feeding that hungry crowd and trust me,
make a lot of these, because everyone will
be wanting more. Just remember, get behind
the grill this summer! For this recipe and even more
