The Publican House Brewery has been in business
for about 7 years. We’ve gone through a few expansions over the years. We’re standing
in our new retail space right now and we got a few other expansions coming up down the
road. We make 6 beers, two are year round and we have 4 seasonals. About two years ago
we started the Square Nail project, which we worked with Hawthorne Ridge and Primal
Cuts. So the mash that comes from the brew get’s shipped out to Hawthorne Ridge, the
pigs are fed the mash and then the pigs end up going to Primal cuts and come back as our
Square Nail Pigs. This past summer we held the first annual Kawartha Craft Beer Festival.
It was a one day festival, we had 8 local craft breweries, 4 food vendors, 4 local bands
and we had a big turnout. It was a great success for us and we’re looking forward to hosting
it again next year. Being in downtown Peterborough has been fantastic for us, just with the location,
we’re close to all of the restaurants that we’re in. It’s been great for us with the
traffic, a lot of people are coming downtown more than they did in the last few years and
just having people go by, see our store front and stopping in to see what we’re all about.
We’re thrilled to be in Peterborough, it’s a great community, it’s been very supportive
to us since we’ve been here. It’s very focused on local, which is great for us. Music Playing
