Trigo: Brewed for ArtPrize 2018

The word Trigo means wheat in Spanish the gold that comes through is kind of reminiscent of these strong brilliant bold flavors. I really like the way the artwork came out it’s got just a soft beautiful character to it and I kind of feel like the beer is also soft beautiful. ArtPrize obviously brings a lot of people to town and a lot of new opportunities to to connect with some people that maybe haven’t been here before or had Founders or had you know much craft beer in general. This was a beer that was developed with one of our Spanish friends Alejo from Mahou San Miguel. it’s also a Spanish inspired beer so I modeled it after the flag as well the red carnation is also a symbol of Spain. I don’t do a whole lot of collaborations but when I do you know there’s always so much to be learned everybody makes very differently you know it just makes you a better brewer. So it’s three of my favorite hops in the dry hop Simcoe, Mosaic and Comet and and it really is about featuring those hops the bitterness is is restrained but big hop flavor aroma that wheat malt really gives it a soft round mouthfeel. When I thought about this light but strong beer the only thing I could think of was a strong woman. All of this was supposed to be iconic like this isn’t a portrait of someone it’s a symbol of someone of this strong confident woman who’s kind of gazing and you don’t know if she’s really gazing at you or beyond you. Trigo coming at you it’s our sixth installment in the ArtPrize series look for it in 6-pack cans draft all over the place.
