UNH 1866 Beer

UNH 1866 Beer

[MACHINE SOUNDS] We did this beer
a few years ago. It was very well-received. And so we were looking for a
way to release it back again. 1866 was the founding
of our university. And it’s just a
catchy, unique name. We partnered with Tuckerman,
because it was important for us to work with the brewery
in the state, somebody who had a really
great connection with the people in the state. For us, it’s just so important
to always be giving back. Like, we’re constantly
looking to do something for somebody else for the
betterment of everybody. And the brewing program at
UNH is unbelievable right now. And we’re really, really
excited to be a part of that. You saw the brewing
industry just start to explode in New Hampshire. And as the flagship and
the land grant university, we had this growing
industry, and we really wanted to figure
out how to serve it. We wanted to make
sure students had a chance to get their
hands on actual brewing and then be able to
go into the state, into this really growing
industry, and get jobs. We are at Tuckerman’s in
Conway, New Hampshire. Myself and two other UNH
students in the brewing program are brewing our 1866 tavern ale. We’re working with Jeremy, the
head brewer at Tuckerman’s. And he’s been showing
us the whole process. I never thought, you
know, UNH would have a brewing program in general. I’ve heard of other
schools starting to build those programs as well. But for UNH to be
in there already, it’s pretty cool, especially
with so many breweries opening up. And now you have people
who are learning about it and know more about it and
can get into the industry and make good beer. I’m just excited to see
it out in the marketplace. I think it’s going to
bring attention to UNH and their brewing program. And it supports all of us. It’s a symbiotic relationship,
where beer really does bring everybody together. [MUSIC PLAYING]
